Ust-Kurdyum is located on the banks of the Volga, at the confluence of the Kurdyum River. 4 km from the village, between the ravines of Splavnaya and Bezymyanny, there is the site of the Ust-Kurdyum settlement, which is a valuable historical monument.
Unofficially referred to as the "Saratov Ruble ". Sabantui celebrations are held annually in the village.
In the village is located Kurdumsky branch of JSC "Saratov rafting raid".
