Transport
The village is located on the railway line Rostov-Voronezh-Moscow. At the stopping point Ugljanets, suburban trains of the Gryazinsky direction stopping the village from Voronezh. There is also a regular bus service between the village and the regional center.
Etymology of village name
There are two main versions of the origin of the current name of the village. The first is related to the location of Uglants. The field and the forest, meeting at a single point, form a corner, as it were, where the village is located. It is from the word angle that the name came - Ugljanets. According to the second version, Ugljanets got its name due to the fact that charcoal was burned in the village, which was later used by Peter the Great for building ships in Voronezh.

There is another version - the third, according to which Ugljanets was called the Angular military post and was part of the complex of defensive fortifications of the town of Orlov, being its northern outpost. The southern village was Khrenovoye. Orlov, the town was part of the network of fortifications of the Belgorod serif line. In the garrison served: children of the boyars, dragoons, archers, Cossacks.
Village History
The first settlement that arose in the modern village of Ugljanets dates back to the 16th century. Until 1617, the village was called Telachino.
Until the XVIII century, the village of Ugljanets was small, on its territory there were only a few dozen peasant houses. In search of refuge from the Tatars who raided the surrounding areas, people began to settle in the village of Ugljanets. After a hundred years, they already knew about the village in Voronezh. And city merchants came to Ugljanets for coal.
In 1778, part of the land that belonged to the Uglian inhabitants was taken away by the landowners.
It is known that in Ugljanets owned the estate S. Kryazhov, and in the village. Nikonovo, a former sanatorium "Ugljanets", was the estate of a tobacco manufacturer Sychev.
