Rowing
Olympic rowing competitions were held from August 3 to 10 in the village of Sloten , which is located 6 km west of the center of Amsterdam . In each race two boats started. The winner of the race went to the next round, and the losers at the preliminary stage fell into the qualifying round. Athletes who lost two races completed the fight for medals. Starting from the third round, the crews inferior in the race were eliminated from the competition. To determine the bronze medalist, a race was held for 3rd place.
