In terms of the building is a square with two courtyards. The department building was facing the square, in the depths there was a factory-kitchen and expeditionary thermos facilities, and the dining rooms, where the self-service principle was first applied [2] , had a semicircular two-tier volume that protruded from the northern facade and went out into the green square (now there is a restaurant McDonald 's). On its flat roof, as well as on the roof of the department store, open galleries were arranged for dining in the fresh air in the warm season. Subsequently, they were built up, which damaged the perception of openwork completion of the building [3] .

The building has been rebuilt several times. The last restoration of 2001-2005 was carried out by the Liteiny part 91 architectural bureau under the direction of R. M. Dayanov [2] .
