Xpdf can be run on many Unix-like systems. Xpdf can decode LZW and read encrypted PDF files. The official version has limitations on DRM for PDF files, which may interfere with copying, printing, or converting PDF files. However, there are third-party patches to circumvent these restrictions.
Xpdf includes several programs that do not require the X Window System , including programs that can extract images from PDF files or convert PDF to PostScript or text.
Xpdf is used as a backend in KPDF and GPDF, as well as in BePDF on BeOS ,! PDF on RISCOS and PalmPDF. AmigaOS xpdf requires Cygnix on the system (limited version of X11).
