Stringer (shipbuilding)

Stringer is a longitudinal element of the hull set.

Stringers (traditionally pronounced stringers) are bottom or airborne. In the longitudinal system of recruitment, they are beams of the main direction, and in the transverse, they are cross-links. Stringers, depending on the dialing system, absorb the load from the total longitudinal bending (with the longitudinal dialing system), distribute the load between adjacent frames , or are intermediate supports for the frames (with the transverse dialing system).

Side stringers - longitudinal beams of a set of side overlap. In the case of a longitudinal set system, an on-board stringer is a frame (reinforced) longitudinal set beam, usually a T-profile. The remaining longitudinal beams are called stiffening ribs and are numbered from the bottom to the deck . With a transverse set system, airborne stringers are divided into bearing and carrying (intercostal). Bearing stringers are used with the so-called to the frame system of a set of ice reinforcements - to reduce the span of frames in the ceiling, they are supported on a supporting stringer passing between the frame frames. Due to this, it is possible to significantly reduce the size of the side frame profile, reduce the weight of the structure and increase the useful volume of holds. Spacing stringers are installed between the frames and distribute the load between them, providing a flat form of bending of the floor.

Bottom stringers - longitudinal beams of a set of bottom overlap. Similarly, onboard, bottom stringers are called beams installed along the entire height of the second bottom, longitudinal beams of the bottom sheathing and flooring of the second bottom are called stiffening ribs and are numbered from keel to sides.
