Valentin Ivanovich Bliznyuk (born April 12, 1928 ) is a Soviet aircraft designer, an employee of the Tupolev Design Bureau , the head of work on the creation of the supersonic strategic bomber-bomber Tu-160 . Laureate of the USSR State Prize.

Biography
Valentin Bliznyuk was born in the village of Little Russia in East Kazakhstan .
In 1953 he graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute. S. Ordzhonikidze .
Since 1952, he worked in the design office of A.N. Tupolev , where in the early years he took part in the development of the tactical strike aircraft Tu-91 and the serial strategic bomber Tu-95 .
In 1957, a unit of unmanned aerial vehicles was created at the Tupolev Design Bureau under the leadership of A. A. Tupolev . In it, V. I. Bliznyuk led the development of technical projects for unmanned systems, including the Tu-121 "C", Tu-123 , Tu-143 , Tu-141 , and also, from the beginning of the 1970s, the development of aerospace systems - shock unmanned Tu-130 "DP" and the orbital manned aircraft Tu-136 "Star".
Valentin Bliznyuk made a significant contribution to the development of the world's first supersonic passenger aircraft Tu-144 - was the head of the General Views department of this project, then the deputy chief designer.
Work on the Tu-160 strategic aviation complex began in the late 1960s with the active participation of V. I. Bliznyuk. In 1975, he became the chief designer of the project and deputy general designer of the MMZ "Experience" A. Tupolev. Valentin Bliznyuk not only carried out general project management, but also directly supervised the development of the aerodynamic design of the aircraft, its power plant, including many innovative developments. In 1981, the Tu-160 developed by Bliznyuk first flew into the air, and in 1987 entered service with the USSR Air Force .
In recent years, Valentin Bliznyuk as the chief designer, and later as an adviser to the general director of Tupolev PJSC, led the work on the modification, modernization and retrofitting of the Tu-160 complex, thanks to which it is still considered the most powerful in the world. In addition, under his leadership, a draft Tu-330 cargo plane was developed.
