Material eXchange Format (MXF), a data exchange format - a media container for professional storage and processing of video and audio materials. The standard is described by the international organization SMPTE . It is cross-platform and supported by many vendors of software and hardware solutions.

Opportunities:
- Storage of completed work along with their metadata
- Storing files in a format that allows streaming and viewing during transfer
- Creating synchronization information for multiple files
- MXF format can store data compressed by any algorithm
Disadvantages:
- Support for MXF by various devices does not mean full compatibility. For example, devices may use incompatible compression algorithms [2] .
