Turkey took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta ( USA ) for the seventeenth time in its history, and won four gold, one silver and one bronze medals. The country was represented by 53 athletes (44 men and 9 women) who competed in athletics, weightlifting, wrestling, boxing, judo, archery, sailing, swimming, bullet shooting.

Judo competitions were held according to the elimination system. Comforting meetings were held between the athletes who were defeated in the quarterfinals of the tournament. The winners of the consolation meetings met in the battle for 3rd place with athletes who lost in the semi-finals in the opposite half of the tournament bracket.
