History
Formed on April 1, 2009 by transforming the former non-metropolitan county of Cheshire into a unitary unit of the regions of Chester , Ellesmere Port and Neston , Vale Royal ( en: 2009 structural changes to local government in England ).
Geography
It covers an area of 917 km². It borders on the east with the unitary unit East Cheshire , in the west with Wales , in the north with the ceremonial county of Merseyside and the unitary units of Holton and Warrington .

On the territory of the unitary unit, Western Cheshire and Chester are home to 321,971 people [1] .
