Path in Science
He graduated in 1856 from a course at Kiev University of St. Vladimir as a candidate in the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics.
In 1856, he was appointed a teacher at the Kiev Institute of Noble Maidens , in 1858 he received a master 's degree in botany, and was a privat docent at the university.
In 1859 he moved to Kazan University , where he was selected by competition as an adjunct in the Department of Botany. The following year, he proposed a project of summer practical courses in the natural sciences, and in 1861 he became an acting professor . However, he did not have to serve for a long time at this university. The troubles that occurred between the then trustee and some professors, including Yanovich, forced the latter to leave the university.
In 1863, he was assigned to the Ministry of Education and from December 1863 to June 1865 was on a business trip abroad, doing research in the laboratory of A. de Bari in Freiburg . While preparing his doctoral dissertation , he wrote the work “Ueber die Entwickelung der Fructificationsorgane von Nectria” [3] , and upon returning he was appointed assistant professor of botany at the newly opened Novorossiysk University . In 1866 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Botany ("On the development of perithecium in Pleospora herbarum ") and was soon elected an extraordinary, and in 1867 an ordinary professor .
In January 1868, Yanovich participated in the first congress of Russian naturalists and doctors. Soon he became mentally ill, he showed signs of a brain disease, he was forced to be treated in St. Petersburg . In 1869, he recovered so much that he returned to Odessa and again began to give lectures, but he became completely ill and died in 1871 in a hospital in St. Petersburg. He was buried at the Smolensk Orthodox Cemetery , plot 104 [4] .
