“Too Human” describes a world where German-Norse mythology combines with science fiction . The protagonist of the game is Baldur, one of the Asov gods, who took on the task of protecting and helping humanity in a fierce and long-standing war with machines. Ases use cybernetic implants that help them in this battle. The game begins with the usual hunt for a stray car, with a hint called GRNDL (Grendel is the monster Beowulf fought with), but then the story shifts the focus to the struggle between the gods.
“Too Human” has been in the development hell for almost ten years, becoming one of the longest long-term construction projects in the gaming industry. Initially, “Too Human” was planned as an action adventure for the PlayStation , which was supposed to be released on four CDs in 1999. The target platform later changed to the Nintendo GameCube , and the planned release date is 2000. In 2005, Microsoft bought the rights to the game and reoriented it exclusively on the Xbox 360 . Ultimately, at this stage of development, the game was finished and published. Although the concept, structure and elements of the game changed with each stage of development, its name did not change.

Game Budget and Epic Games Scandal
The budget of the game, excluding advertising, is more than $ 60 million.
During the development of the game, its creators Silicon Knights faced many difficulties that entailed an increase in the budget by several times. One of these “difficulties” was the litigation with Epic Games regarding the use of the Unreal Engine 3 engine in the game, which ended with the “silicon knights” having to redo the game engine from scratch at the moment when it was almost finished. All this added to the total development cost of at least another 10 million dollars.
November 10, 2012 it became known that the company is obliged by the court to destroy all unsold copies of the game, as well as to pay Epic Games about $ 9 million for appropriating someone else’s technology to itself.
