Biography
He was the eldest son of Lieutenant Colonel John Woodford (d. 1800 ) and his second wife, Lady Susan (d. 1814 ), the eldest daughter of Cosmo George Gordon (Cosmo Gordon) , 3rd Duke of Gordon and widow of John Fane, 9th Earl of Westmoreland .
Woodford attended college in Winchester College in 1794 and the Royal Military Academy in Woolwich in 1799 . December 6, 1794 received the rank of Ensign officer with admission to the 9th (East Norfolk) Infantry Regiment (9th (the East Norfolk) Regiment of Foot) .
He was promoted to lieutenant on July 15, 1795 , captains of the Coldstream Guards on December 11, 1799 , lieutenant colonels on March 8, 1810 , colonels on June 4, 1814 , 2nd regiment from July 25, 1814 , and 1st regiment major from January 18, 1820 . , from July 25, 1821 - regimental lieutenant colonel in the regiment of Coldstream Guards ), May 27, 1825 to major general , June 28, 1838 to lieutenant general , June 20, 1854 to full generals .
