Geography
It is located in the eastern part of the archipelago and in the western part of the North Earth as a whole. The islands of Sredny and Strela lie at a distance of 1.3 kilometers and 300 meters, respectively, to the west of the island of Figure; the island of Vostochny is located to the east, with which the island of Figure is connected by a long (9 kilometers) and very narrow (about 250 meters) land strip. Although the islands are shown as separate on some maps, in fact they are actually one twin island.
Description
It has the shape of a crescent with a long narrow ledge to the west in the southern part. The length from west to east is 12 kilometers, from south to north - about 8 kilometers, width in the middle part - about 3 kilometers. The total length of the coastline is about 45 kilometers. The bend of the island forms the Glorious Bay up to 19 meters deep. The coasts are mostly steep, ranging in height from 3-5 meters in the bay area to 6-13 meters on the north and south coasts. There are four elevations on the island, 16 meters high in the northeast, 21 meters in the north, 42 meters in the west and 49 (the highest point of the island) in the southeastern part. Small streams flow to the northeastern, western, and southeastern hills. Small lakes are scattered throughout the territory, mostly inland. Along the southern coast are rocky placers. Vegetation is represented primarily by mosses and lichens .
Other facts
The westernmost point of the island is Cape of Macedon , named after the Soviet polar hydrograph A.P. of Macedon (1916-1973) [1] .
