Observation station Kryzhanovka Research Institute "Astronomical Observatory" ONU them. I.I. Mechnikova or Kryzhanovka Observation Station - an observation station founded in 1957 as part of the Odessa State University Observatory in the village of Kryzhanovka, Limanskiy District, Odessa Region , 15 km east of Odessa . The creation of the observation station was initiated ahead of the International Geophysical Year . The creator of the station was Vladimir Platonovich Tsesevich . The main research topic is patrolling meteors to obtain data on the properties of the atmosphere in the meteor zone (80-110 km) . On the modern equipment of the station, an average of 120 minutes of patrol shooting produces an image of 1 meteor.

Observatory Tools
- An old meteor patrol based on 4 NAFA-3C / 25 cameras with a shutter and with Uran-9 lenses (D = 100 mm, F = 250 mm, frame size 18 × 24 cm, field of view 39 × 53 degrees).
- radio telescope - for observing ionized traces of meteors in the atmosphere
- New meteor patrol based on the Schmidt system telescope (17 / 30cm) and the CCD receiver (WATEC LCL-902k) in television mode mounted on the APSh-4 mount (since summer 2003)
- Photographic lenses: Industar I-52, Uran-9, and Helios-40 with an EVP-20A electron-optical converter
- laser-location telescope TPL-1M (planned)
- 80 cm theodolite LD-2 for satellite observations (planned)
Key research areas
- Patrol basic observations of meteors (in the 90s of the XX century there was a break in observations)
- Variable stars
- Comets
- Laser-ranging observations of a satellite
Key achievements
- More than 100 basic photographs of meteors were obtained using meteor patrols. Kryzhanovka and with. Lighthouses (until the 90s of the XX century)
- Since the summer of 2003, about 400 images of meteors in the small field of view of the Schmidt system telescope (17 / 30cm) were obtained in 860 hours of patrol shooting.
