Content
Biological Description
The thallus is foliate, consists of one or more leaf - shaped plates and scales rising or pressed to the substrate , with a yellowish or reddish-orange upper surface, which becomes bright red from potassium hydroxide . The lower surface is covered with short rhizoids , light brown or whitish.
The characteristic color gives the lichen a special substance - parietin , which in the form of crystals covers the upper crustal layer . The lower is colorless or with a few parietin crystals.
The epithelium is yellowish, from KOH it turns bright red. Tecium and hypothecia are colorless.
Spores are colorless, elliptical. Conidia straight, elongated elliptical, short.
