The territory of the former USSR : Central Asia and Kazakhstan (very absent-minded and rarely, the mountains of Jamsybutaly near the Aral Sea , Kyzylkum , Karatau , the Kazakh low-high peak , the Dzungarian Alatau , the Fergana Valley , the Pamirs ); Asia : Eastern Iran , Afghanistan , China ( Dzungaria ).
Desert and mountain habitats, up to 3700 m above sea level.
The roots are thin. Stems 5–7 cm high, erect, thin, poorly pubescent or bare, ending with racemes, less multicolored buds.
Stem leaves 3–10 mm long, oblong or oblong-lanceolate, entire, bare or almost bare, sometimes purple underneath, arranged in a whorl at the base branching into thin branches of the inflorescence . Bracts are very different from stem, almost linear, 2-6 times shorter than pedicels , bare.
Flowers on very thin pedicels, usually bent at a right angle, 3.5–12 mm long, with fruits straight or arcuate, horizontally deflected, two to three times longer than the calyx ; lobes of the calyx are lanceolate, sharp, with indistinct streak, somewhat longer than the capsule, about 2 mm long, fused in pairs at the base; corolla blue, 1-1.5 mm in diameter, smaller than calyx.
Box 2.5 mm wide, obverse, with ovate or round, obtuse lobes, with narrow or wide, deep groove. Seeds 0.5-0.75 mm long, oblong, on one side shallowly concave, slightly wavy-tuberculate from the back.
Blossoms in April - May.
