The semantic role of a name in a predicate is in linguistics : part of the predicate semantics, reflecting the general properties of the predicate argument - a participant called the situation predicate [1] . Description in terms of semantic roles reflects the similarity of control models of various predicate words [2] .
The concept of the semantic role was suggested by C. Fillmore , who first used the term “deep case ”. In the generating grammar it corresponds to the term " " [1] .
Inventory of roles
The number and composition of semantic roles allocated in the description of the language can vary significantly depending on the objectives of the description [1] and the degree of its detail. However, there are a number of roles, usually included by linguists in the universal set of languages of the world [2] :
- agent - animated initiator and controller of the action;
- a patient is a member undergoing significant changes;
- Benefaktiv - a participant whose interests are affected in the process of implementing the situation (gains benefit or harm);
- the experimenter is the carrier of feelings and perceptions ;
- stimulus is the source of perception;
- action tool ;
- addressee - recipient of the message (can be combined with the beneficiary);
- the source is the starting point of the movement;
- The target is the destination of the movement.
