Description
On a black toothless stamp and worth 12 pence, there is a portrait of the British Queen Victoria [2] , made by Sandford Fleming .
The drawing of the brand is based on the work of Alfred Edward Chalon (1780-1860), which captured Victoria during her first public appearance in the House of Lords in 1837. The thumbnail refers to a number of similar brands of British colonies that reproduced this portrait and are known as the “ Chalon head ”.
Philatelic value
Six clean and twelve slaked copies of the “Black Queen of Canada” have been preserved. Their price is from $ 76,000 apiece [1] .
In 2009, among the rare stamps of the world sold during the year, the Black Queen of Canada was given the second highest amount - $ 299 000 [3] .
