Jörg Vierke ( German: Jörg Vierke ) is a modern German ichthyologist specializing in aquarium fish.

Currently, Virke lives and works in the German city of Husum . Virke is regularly published in aquarium journals, some of his articles have been translated into Russian. Wirke was the first to describe the species of labyrinth fish Betta coccina , Betta edithae , Channa bleheri , Sphaerichthys acrostoma and Sphaerichthys selatanensis
