Description
Unusual larvae were found in the cardboard anthill Azteca trigona ( Dolichoderinae ), where carrion is collected. The species was described from Panama by the American worldmecologist William Wheeler [2] . Some experts (Shannon, 1925: 213) place the Nothomicrodon genus as a synonym for the Microdon genus. The larvae have no characteristic Syrphidae traits, and they probably belong to the Phoridae family. After the first discovery, this species was no longer found.
