Kakabat (cross) is a superscript diacritic used in Khmer , Thai, and Lao . The origin of the name is associated with the Pali word kakapada - crow's paw.
In Khmer kakabat (another name is tengkaek ) is placed above some modal words and particles.
In Thai and Lao kakabat, it is also called the mintink or maytattava and is used to indicate the fourth tone (tattava).
