Contribution to Science
S. B. Lavrov was a follower of the traditions of the Leningrad scientific and pedagogical school of economic and social geography. The scientist laid the scientific foundations for the formation of social ecology, created the conceptual foundations of political geography and geopolitics, developed the scientific and methodological foundations of economic and social geography of foreign countries. The works of S. B. Lavrov enriched the theoretical and methodological potential of socio-geographical science.
In the mid-1980s at the Department of Economic Geography, scientists introduce a lecture course in political geography with the aim of developing an idea of political geography as an independent, relevant and practically significant direction in the system of socio-geographical sciences.
Thanks to the efforts of S. B. Lavrov, the first domestic monograph on the political geography of V. A. Kolosov , published in Leningrad, was published in 1988, and nine years later, the first cathedral political and geographical monograph became the second in Russia. [2]
