Gained national fame in August 2005 after Hurricane Katrina . Barbour was re-elected in 2007 [1] . According to local law, Barbour cannot be elected for a new term and must leave the post in 2011. Prior to being elected governor, he was a lawyer and lobbyist. In 2009, he led the Association of Republican Governors.
