Career
In 2006, Maria Stadnik, speaking for Ukraine, won the European Championship in Moscow, but was disqualified for doping. In 2007, the disqualification was withdrawn, but in Ukraine she was told that the first number of the national team in the Olympic cycle was Irina Merleni . Maria was denied even a chance to qualify for the Olympic team, so she accepted the offer of Azerbaijan. As a result, at the 2008 Olympics, Maria Stadnik and Irina Merleni became bronze medalists, stood on the same podium.
At the 2008 Olympics, Maria Stadnik lost to Carol Haina from Canada in the first fight. But the Canadian athlete reached the final gave Maria a chance to fight for bronze. Having defeated Korean Kim Hyung Zhu in the consolation round, Stadnik went out to fight with the representative of Kazakhstan, Tatyana Bakatyuk . In both rounds, Maria Stadnik won with a score of 2-1 and 8-0, and the second round ended in 37 seconds. Thus, on August 16, Maria Stadnik became the first female wrestler to bring the Olympic medal to Azerbaijan [2] .
Later, Stadnik three times became the champion of Europe, the champion and vice-champion of the world.
At the 2012 Olympics in London, Stadnik finally met with Merleni in the semifinals, defeating which reached the final. In the final, Maria Stadnik lost to Japanese Hitomi Obara. Thus, Maria Stadnik won the silver medal.
Maria Stadnik (48 kg) won the seventh gold for Azerbaijan at the 2015 European Games in Baku [3] . On June 29, Stadnik was awarded the Order of Glory for high achievements at the I European Games and great achievements in the development of sports in Azerbaijan [4] .
At the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games, Maria Stadnik won the silver medal, losing to the Japanese Eri Tohsaka in the final. On September 1, Stadnik was awarded the Order of " For Service to the Fatherland of the II Degree " by decree of the President of Azerbaijan [5]
