Biography
Born in Ireland in 1774 . He lived in a family of Irish immigrants. He was brought to New York as a child. In 1812, O'Donnell received an order to build a house in New York. This was his first architectural experience. Many other offers soon followed. In 1824, James moved to Canada specifically for the construction of Notre Dame de Montreal .
