The 1999 presidential election in Slovakia was held on May 15 (1st round) and May 29 (2nd round). These were the first direct presidential elections (previously the president was elected by parliament). In the second round, Rudolph Schuster won.
10 candidates participated in the elections. The turnout in the elections was 73.89% in the first round and 75.45% in the second.
