World Car Championship 2009

2009 World Road Racing Championship among cars - the 6th season of the FIA World Touring Car Championship in history and the 5th season of this championship after its revival in 2005. The season kicked off on March 8 with a race in Brazil at the Curitiba racetrack , and ended with the Guia Circuit race in Macau on November 22 at the end of 24 races of the season.

Two classes of vehicles were allowed to start: Super 2000 and Diesel 2000 . The regulation of both classes was maximally equalized so that in the fight for the title in the individual and team classification, none of the classes would receive an advantage.

Calendar Changes

The stage in Marrakesh will be held on a new temporary street ring in the city center on May 3, [36] the street stage in Porto also returned to the calendar.

In the updated version of the calendar, released on November 5, 2008, the dates for German (the race in Oschersleben was moved from August 30 to September 6 (in order to separate it from the Belgian Grand Prix F1 ) [35] ) and the Japanese stages (stage in Okayama moved from October 25 to November 1).

The Italian stage at the last moment changed not only the deadlines (moving from October 4 to September 20), but also the place (instead of the Monza National Autodrome, the enzo and Dino Ferrari Autodrom in Imola became the host circuit). [37]

In addition to the standard points system used in absolute individual classification, the trophy of private traders has additional bonus points: one for the fastest lap and pole position (both among representatives of their class). For the finish in the points zone of the absolute standings, the pilot additionally receives three times the total amount of points received in the absolute points for the individual classification. All points earned at the stage in Macau are doubled.

The team trophy of private traders is attended by all organizations that have traveled at least one stage with any number of riders during the championship. A maximum of two pilots receive points in the standings, provided that they are declared in the championship as independent pilots.
