Global Energy is an international prize in the field of energy, which is awarded for outstanding scientific research and scientific and technological developments in the field of energy that contribute to increasing the efficiency and environmental safety of energy sources on Earth for the benefit of all mankind. [1] Since its founding in 2002, the Global Energy Prize has become a world-famous energy award. According to the IREG International Observatory, the Global Energy Prize is included in the TOP-99 of the most prestigious and significant international awards and is the only award from Russia included in this list. [2] . The Global Energy Prize is also on the official list of the ICDA International Congress of Outstanding Awards. In his prestige rating (ICDA prestige rating), “Global Energy” is in the category of “mega awards” for its noble goals, exemplary practice and the overall prize pool [3] . The award was established in Russia by the Global Energy Association with the support of leading Russian energy companies PJSC Gazprom , OJSC Surgutneftegas and PJSC FGC UES . Every year, laureates receive an award from the hands of the President of the Russian Federation or his authorized person. All winners of the Global Energy Prize are awarded a commemorative medal, diploma and a golden honorary badge. In 2018, the cash part of the premium will amount to 39 million rubles. Each year, winners are determined by the Global Energy International Award Committee. It includes 20 well-known scientists from 13 countries under the guidance of Rodney John Allam, Nobel Peace Prize winner from Great Britain.

History
The history of Global Energy began in 2002 when, at the Russia-EU Summit, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin announced the establishment of the Global Energy Prize. A fund of the same name was established to manage the award. The fund operated until 2010 and, in addition to managing the award, launched a number of programs. In 2010, the Global Energy Non-Profit Partnership for the Development of International Research and Projects in the Field of Energy was formed. In October 2016, the name of the organization was changed to the Global Energy Association for the Development of International Research and Projects in the Field of Energy.
In 2013, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin noted: “During its existence, Global Energy has become one of the most prestigious international awards, uniting a creative community of talented scientists, researchers, energy specialists from Russia and many foreign countries around common goals and objectives. countries. Every year the award strengthens its authority, and its presentation is famous for its unique atmosphere of creation, openness and scientific partnership. ”

The main idea of the project is to draw public attention to modern global and local energy problems and inspire people to think about their possible solutions.
- “Energy of Inspiration” - the prize “Energy of Inspiration” is awarded to those who inspired other people for discoveries, breakthroughs, scientific and other achievements.
- “Energy of Thought” - in the framework of the program in St. Petersburg annually held the same scientific and practical symposiums, where the laureates give lectures and young scientists present their projects.
- “Breakthrough Energy” is a new youth award that is awarded to scientists no older than 45 for an innovative project / invention in the field of energy. The main thing is to show that the development has already been successfully applied in practice, that a real result has been achieved.

Since 2003, 37 scientists from 12 countries: Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Iceland, Canada, Russia, the USA, Ukraine, France, Switzerland, Sweden and Japan became laureates of the prize. In 2010, the premium fund amounted to 30 million rubles. In 2011 it was increased to 33 million rubles. In 2016, the premium amounted to 39 million rubles [4] .
The list of eligible nominees for the prize consists of more than 3,000 scientists from 90 countries of the world and is updated annually. Among them are laureates of the Nobel Prize in physics and chemistry, laureates of the Kyoto , Max Planck, Wolf , Balzan Prizes, or the Global Energy Prizes of past years. The decision on the selection of prize winners is made by the Global Energy International Prize Award Committee, which includes 20 authoritative scientists from 13 countries.
