Bagis, Pedro

Pedro Bagisa ( Spanish: Pedro P. Baguisa , January 31, 1952 , Cabanatuan , Nueva Esih Province - May 29, 2009 , Antipolo , Risal Province) - Filipino politician , Secretary General of the Communist Party of the Philippines (PKP-1930) since 1993.

Biography

In 1969 he joined the Independent Association of Filipino Youth ( Tagalog. Malayang Pagkakaisa ng Kabataang Pilipino , MPKP), which was banned during the dictatorship. Member of the Communist Party since 1970, delegate to the VI Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (Santa Maria, Bulacan Province, January 1973). In June 1976, he led the founding and headed the Association for the Advancement of Filipino Youth ( Samahan sa Ika-uunlad ng Kabataang Pilipino , SIKAP). He graduated in economics from the University of the East in Manila.

At the VII Congress of the Communist Party ( Malolos / Quezon City , July 30-31, 1977) Bagisa was elected a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party. At the IX Congress (Cabiao, Nueva Esih Province, December 30, 1986) he was elected a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee. The X Party Congress (Kabanatuan, November 7, 1993) elected Bagisu as the Secretary General of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. He was re-elected to this post at the XI, XII and XIII congresses (the latter was held on November 7, 2008 in the city of Malolos).

He died of kidney failure in a hospital in the city of Antipolo.
