After the municipal reform of 1990, the territories of neighboring communities - Obergum, Grapeskirk and Aduard - were annexed to the Zoidhorn community. Zoidhorn is a nice town, the development of which largely depends on the nearby Groningen. The Arriva campaign-led railway connects the city with Leeuwarden in Friesland and Groningen .
Transport
There are two railway stations in Zoidhorn - Zoidhorn and Grapeskirk. At least once an hour there is a train to Groningen and Leeuwarden. On weekends, trains stop once in an hour in Zuidhorn. Until 1991, the third station on the line, Viswlith, was also operated.
