Biography
In 1624, Charles Garnier joined the Jesuit monastic order . After completing his studies of philosophy and theology, he was ordained a priest and sent on a mission to Quebec , Canada , where he arrived on 04/08/1636. In Quebec, he was engaged in missionary work among the Huron Indians . He died on December 7, 1649 during the tribal war between the Hurons and the Iroquois in the territory of the Catholic mission " St. Mary among the Hurons ." His body was buried for two days on mission territory in the ruins of a chapel.
Praise
Charles Garnier was beatified by Pope Pius XI in 1922 and canonized by the same pope in 1936 in a group of Canadian martyrs .
