Biography

Born on January 9 (22), 1901 in the village of Bolshoi Frolovo, now Buinsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan .

In the Red Army - since October 1919 . Member of the Civil War , a Red Army soldier , then a link and squad leader. He graduated from the Saratov artillery courses, Sumy artillery school and the F.E.Dzerzhinsky Artillery Academy . Since 1935 - an engineer, and then - the head of the department of the Artillery Administration of the Red Army . In 1938-1941 - in the Defense Committee under the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR .

Since August 1941 - the commander of the 778th artillery regiment of the 247th rifle division , since October - the chief of artillery of the 249th rifle division , which in March 1942 became the 16th guards rifle division , from October 1942 became the commander of this division. From September 1943 - commander of the 36th Guards Rifle Corps, October 1944 - commander of the 5th Army . In December 1944 - May 1945 he commanded the 31st Army as part of the 3rd Belorussian and 1st Ukrainian Fronts.

After the war, he commanded the 28th Combined Arms Army (Belarusian Military District), in 1956-1959 - the head of the Military Command Academy of Air Defense . In 1959-1965, P. G. Shafranov - at the Headquarters of the Joint Armed Forces of the States Parties to the Warsaw Pact . Then in stock.

Member of the Supreme Council of the USSR III convocation.

He was awarded two orders of Lenin , three orders of the Red Banner , orders of Suvorov II degree, Kutuzov II degree, Bogdan Khmelnitsky II degree, medals (including the medal "XX years of the Red Army" [2] ), as well as awards of foreign countries, including the order British Empire III degree [3] .

He died on November 4, 1972. He was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy cemetery .
