The administrative center is the city of Suzdal .

Geography

The area is located in the north of the Vladimir region . Area 1479 km 2 (11th among districts). Most of the region’s territory is located on the territory of the Vladimir Opole with its slightly hilly relief. The land area is represented mainly by light gray, partly by dark gray soils with a high degree of fertility.

The area of ​​land suitable for agricultural production is 126.3 thousand hectares; under forests - more than 45 thousand hectares; reservoirs - 2.0 thousand hectares. Arable lands occupy 76.0 thousand hectares, hayfields - more than 8 thousand hectares, pastures - 14.5 thousand hectares.

The main rivers are Klyazma , Nerl , Rpen .

Natural resources

The flora of the district (together with the adjacent lands of the regional center) totals 970 species of vascular plants [3] . This is the second floristic region of the Vladimir region after Melenkovsky .

  • The district was formed on April 10, 1929 as part of the Vladimir District of the Ivanovo Industrial Region from part of the territories of the abolished Vladimir County of the Vladimir Province .
  • On January 1, 1940, the district included the city of Suzdal and 22 village councils: Borisov, Vesky, Vypovsky, Gavrilovsky, Glebovsky, Gnezdilovsky, Kistyshevsky, Krasnoselsky, Lopatnitsky, Lyakhovitsky, Malo-Boriskovsky, Mordyshevsky, Pavlovsky , Pogost-Bykovsky, Romsky, Sykovsky, Romsky , Seletsky , Spas-Gorodishchensky, Torchinsky, Turtinsky, Fomikhsky, Yanevsky [4] .
  • Since August 14, 1944, the Suzdal region as part of the Vladimir region .

  • In 1956, village councils were merged: Gavrilovsky and Yanevsky - to Yanevsky s / s, Spas-Gorodishchevsky and Pavlovsky - to Pavlovsky s / s, Gnezdilovsky and Turtinsky - to Turtinsky s / s, Lyakhovitsky and Kidekshansky - to Kidekshansky s / s, Little Boriskovsky and Pogost-Bykovsky into one village council, transfer the center to the village of Lopatnitsy and rename it Lopatnitsky s / s.
  • In 1963, the Suzdal district was liquidated, its territory consisting of 7 village councils ( Kidekshansky, Lopatnitsky, Pavlovsky, Romanovsky, Torchinsky, Turtinsky, Yanevsky ) moved to the Vladimirsky rural district .
  • By decree of the Presidium of the Armed Forces of the RSFSR of 01/12/1965, the Vladimir rural district was transformed into a district and renamed to Suzdal district as part of the working village of Bogolyubovo and 15 s / s ( Borisovsky, Kidekshansky, Lemeshensky, Lopatnitsky, Pavlovsky, Prigorodny, Romanovsky, Snovitsky, Spassky, Starodvor , Torchinsky, Turtinsky, Fomikhinsky, Fomitsinsky, Yanevsky ). On April 27, 1965, the Mordyshsky s / s was formed with the inclusion of part of the settlements of Fomikhinsky and Lemeshensky s / s ; Fomikhinsky s / s was abolished with the transfer of settlements to Kidekshansky s / s and the newly formed Kruglovsky s / s as part of the Kameshkovsky district .
  • In 1966, the center of Fomitsinsky s / s was moved to the village of Klementyevo with the renaming of Fomitsinsky s / s to Klementyevsky s / s .
  • In 1969, the city of Suzdal was assigned to the category of cities of regional subordination, the center of Yanevsky s / s was moved to the village of Gavrilovskoye and renamed to Gavrilovsky .
  • In 1971, the Novoaleksandrovsky s / s was formed with the inclusion of part of the settlements of the Snovitsky and Starodvorsky village councils .
  • In 1972, Sadovoye s / s was formed with the inclusion of part of the settlements of the Borisov and Snovitsky village councils .
  • In 1973, the Mordyshsky s / s was abolished with the inclusion of settlements in the Lemeshensky and Borisovsky s / s , the center of the Borisov s / s was moved to the village of Poretsky with its renaming in Poretsky .
  • In 1974, the center of Kidekshansky s / s was moved to the village of Seltso with the renaming of the village council in Seletsky.
  • In 1978, Novoselsky s / s was formed with the inclusion of settlements of Lemeshinsky s / s , Spassky s / s was abolished with the inclusion of settlements in the Suburban S / s .
  • On January 1, 1983, the Suzdal district included 1 urban-type settlement Bogolyubovo and 16 village councils: Gavrilovsky, Klementyevsky, Lemeshensky, Lopatnitsky, Novoaleksandrovsky , Novoselsky, Pavlovsky , Poretsky, Prigorodny, Romanovsky, Sadovy, Seletsky , Snovitsky, Starodvorsky, Starodvorsky Turtinsky [5] .
  • In 1986, the center of Lopatnitsky s / s was moved to the village of Krasnogvardeisky with its renaming in Krasnogvardeisky s / s , the center of Romanovsky s / s - in the village of Ves with its renaming in Vesinsky s / s .
  • In 1992, the Omut s / s was formed with the inclusion of part of the settlements of Vesky s / s [6] .
  • In 1998, as a result of the reform, all village councils were transformed into rural districts.
  • In accordance with the Law of the Vladimir Region of November 26, 2004 No. 190-OZ [7], the Suzdal district is endowed with the status of a municipal district consisting of 1 urban and 4 rural settlements. The city of Suzdal became part of the municipal district as an urban settlement, the working village of Bogolyubovo is classified as rural settlements. Settlements of the former Suburban Village Council transferred to the urban district of the city ​​of Vladimir .

Economics

Ведущим сектором экономики района является агропромышленный комплекс, в котором преобладает молочно-мясное направление. На 1 января 2006 года на территории района функционируют 27 сельскохозяйственных предприятий и 174 крестьянско-фермерских хозяйства.

Промышленность района представлена такими крупными предприятиями, как:

  • ЗАО «Хаме Фудз»,
  • ОАО «Суздальская кондитерская фабрика»,
  • ОАО «Суздальский молочный завод»,
  • ОАО «Суздальская швейная фабрика».
