Biography
Born March 8, 1940 in Kiev. He graduated from the Odessa Theater and Art School ( 1959 ), then - VGIK ( 1965 ). From 1965 he worked at the Studio of A. Dovzhenko . Together with S. I. Paradzhanov , Yu. G. Ilyenko, and others, he compiled a school of “Ukrainian poetic cinema,” which was not allowed by the Soviet ideological censorship. Secretary of the Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine ( 1990 - 1993 ).
He died on September 16, 2001 . He was buried in Kiev at the Baikov Cemetery .
