The venerable Ralph Edward Goodale ( born Ralph Edward Goodale , born October 5, 1949 , Regina , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian politician and former Canadian Minister of Finance.

Goodale grew up on a farm and before working in Ottawa , he spent almost his entire life in Saskatchewan . The first time he entered the House of Commons of Canada in 1974, was not re-elected in 1979 and left Ottawa in 1981 to participate in the election of the head of the Liberal Party of Saskatchewan , which he won.
Before the 1993 elections, he joined Jean Chretien and worked as Minister of Agriculture. He also held other posts, including the Minister of Natural Resources and the Minister of Civil Engineering. When Paul Martin became Prime Minister of Canada on December 12, 2003 , Ralph Goodale became his Minister of Finance, whom he remained until the Liberals defeated the Conservative Party of Stephen Harper in 2006 .
He was the parliamentary leader of the Liberal Party in the shadow cabinet of its head, Michael Ignatiev .
After the Liberal Party won the election in October 2015, he became Minister of Public Security and Emergencies in the Justin Trudeau government.
