Biography [1]
In October 1931, he graduated from the navigational classes of the VMU. M.V. Frunze [2] .
He served as commander of the BC-1 destroyer " Volodarsky " (October 1931 - August 1932), " Lenin " (August 1932 - January 1934), divisional navigator of the patrol ship division (January 1934 - April 1935), assistant commander of the training ship " Leningradsovet "(April 1935 - March 1936), the commander of the patrol ship" Purga "(March 1936 - March 1938) [3] .
In 1937 he graduated from the one-year courses of destroyer commanders [2] . Next, he served as commander of the destroyers " Sharp-witted " (March - September 1938), " Wrath " (September 1938 - February 1939), 1st Division of patrol ships (February 1939 - April 1940) [3] .
Member of the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940 . Commander of the 4th Division of the destroyers of the Baltic Fleet (February - December 1940), from December 1940 - Commander of the 2nd Division of the squadron destroyers of the Baltic Fleet [2] .
Great Patriotic War
Since the beginning of World War II as commander of the 2nd destroyer battalion, he performed mine settings [4] , participated in operations to search for enemy convoys in the Gulf of Riga , in defense of the islands of Ezel and Dago [5] .
In September - October 1941 - Deputy Chief of Staff of the Protection of the water area [2] .
In November 1941, being the commander of the mine-layer “Marty” (October 1941 - January 1942) [2] , he participated in the evacuation of the garrison of the Hanko naval base in Leningrad . In January - July 1942 - commander of the training ship " Leningradsovet ".
In July - December 1942, he commanded the gunboat "Zeya", and provided artillery firing support for the Ust-Tosno operation , the landing of the landing force [6] .
From December 1942 to September 1943 - the commander of the leader of the destroyers "Leningrad" , captain of the 2nd rank [3] .
From September 1943 he commanded the 2nd battalion of destroyers [3] , in 1944 participated in the defeat of the Germans near Leningrad and on the Karelian Isthmus [5] . Since 1944 - Deputy Chief of Staff of the Baltic Fleet.
Post-war service
After the war, commanded the cruiser " Maxim Gorky " (March 1946 - October 1948). From October 1949, at the end of the Academic Courses of officers at the Naval Academy. KE Voroshilov , commanded the cruiser " Chapaev " (on 27 January 1951 he was given the rank of rear admiral ), headed the headquarters (February-June 1951), commanded the squadron of the 4th (South-Baltic) fleet (June 1951-February 1957 of the year). He led the visits of Soviet ships in Poland (1953), Finland (1954). August 8, 1955 awarded the rank of vice-admiral .
From February 1957 he commanded the fleet base in Tallinn, and from August 1960, he served as the 1st deputy commander and member of the Military Council of the Baltic Fleet .
From July 1962 to August 1963 - Deputy Commander of the Group of Soviet Forces in the Navy in Cuba ( Operation "Anadyr" ); on the night of October 28, 1962, he delayed the execution of the order to launch rockets for 6 minutes, thereby preventing the start of the Third World War [7] .
From January 1964, he headed the Baltic group for state acceptance of naval ships; From May 1964 to December 1970 - Head of the Higher Special Officer Classes of the Navy .

He was buried at the Serafimov cemetery .
