The YaG-12 is the first in the USSR and one of the world's first four-axle cargo vehicles with off-road capability with an 8 × 8 wheel formula . The car was created in 1932 at the Yaroslavl Automobile Plant based on the three-axle YaG-10 . First demonstrated November 7, 1932 during a festive demonstration on Red Square in Moscow .

Construction
YAG-12 was created on the basis of the YAG-10 vehicle. Instead of the front axle, a two-axle bogie is installed, all four wheels of which were steerable and driving. The car has a Continental-22R six-cylinder carburetor engine . Coupling - multidisk dry. Transmission - four- speed . The drive of the front pairs of wheels used transverse drive shafts with universal single joints. At the rear of the car was installed winch , which was driven from the transfer case .
