Biography
Born in 1944 in Paris in a family of Russian emigrants from St. Petersburg , the only child in the family. Father died in 1946. He spent his childhood in Medon , a suburb of Paris.
1959 year . Gets French citizenship. In the same year, he leaves school and “embraced by a passion for art”, turns to the career of a photographer . He began his career with pictures of jazz musicians from clubs in Saint-Germain-des-Prés . He was noticed by the famous art director Regis Pannier, who took up his training and the development of artistic taste. Soon accepted as a photographer to participate in the creation of the press group of Daniel Filipacci. Over the next few years, Andrei will significantly expand his artistic horizons, spending a lot of time in museums , libraries , bookstores, and taking pictures for various publications of the aforementioned press group.
1969 year . Sent for a year to Munich and Hamburg at the invitation of local fashion magazines. Upon returning to France, he continued his activities in this area. At the first stage, collaborates with several publications of the so-called frivolous genre, then works independently.
1974 year . Publication of the first series of nude photos in the French magazine "PHOTO" and all its international publications. During this period, he closely communicates with the artists of the Narrative Image group, draws up many covers for such magazines as Luy, Penthouse, Playboy, Photo, Photo Shop, etc. He makes a series of portraits of the American artist Robert Rauschenberg. in Israel .
1980 year . An album of photos about fantasies on rubber and leather , released in France under the name "CATALOG" and in Italy "MADAME de SAD". The album caused a wide resonance of criticism, as well as gained major commercial success.
1981 year . In France, and later in Italy, a second shocking album is released: "CREATIONS", the topic of which was transgender . Numerous exhibitions in Paris and Milan .
1982 year . Research work on embossed color photography has been published in all international editions of the PHOTO magazine. Exhibition at the Canon Gallery.
1983 year. Beginning of the commercial period: photographs of the series of underwear for French, German and Italian magazines and catalogs. Throughout these years, Andrei Berg has repeatedly traveled across the United States , South Africa and the Indian Ocean .
1992 year. In the south of France, in Ramuel , he creates a unique studio for shooting in the daylight.
1999 year. Completely leaves the sphere of commercial photography and devotes himself to independent creativity, preparing a photo series called: “Hysterical hypochondria”.
Currently lives and works in Paris and Nice .
