Biography

From the noblemen of the St. Petersburg province, was born on August 10, 1864 in Odessa. The third child in the family of Captain 1st Rank V.R.Shelting and Wilhelmina Henrietta (nee Baroness Nettelhorst ). The father of Vladimir Vladimirovich, served during this period on commercial vessels in ROPiT .

Service

On October 16, 1878, at the request of his parents, he was enrolled in the Naval College . In service since 1881. He graduated from the Maritime College 46th in academic performance. In 1883 he was promoted to midshipman , and on October 1, 1884 to midshipman, and enlisted in the 6th naval crew.

In 1886 he graduated from the rifle team. In 1886-1890 he graduated from the training courses of the artillery command of the Baltic Fleet . In 1891 he was promoted to lieutenant . In 1892, he was appointed senior artillery officer of the Beaver seagoing gunboat. In 1896 he graduated from the artillery officer class, enrolled in artillery officers of the 1st category.

In 1901 he was appointed to command the destroyer Skat . In the same year he was transferred to the Zabiyaka cruiser II rank as a senior officer, then commanded this ship until 1903. After, commanded the destroyer " Storm ".

After the revolution, he remained in Russia. In 1918 he entered the service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Fleet . In 1918-1920 he was the commandant of the Shlisselburg fortress and the chief of the Shlisselburg base. In March 1920, he was dismissed from this position for health reasons, but in April 1921 he was returned to active duty and was appointed commander of the Volkhov rescue ship.

Vladimir Vladimirovich died on September 9, 1921 in Petrograd from pneumonia, and was buried in the Smolensk cemetery in Petrograd.
