Coat of Arms History
The village arose in 1958, and was previously called Uritsa by the name of a river flowing nearby. ZATO received its current name VIDYAEVO in memory of the commander of the Guards submarine Shch-422, captain-lieutenant Vidyaev Fedor Alekseevich , who died on July 1, 1943 in a battle with fascist invaders. In accordance with Presidential Decree No. 269 of March 6, 2001, the village of Vidyaevo was transformed into a closed administrative-territorial unit (ZATO).
The first coat of arms of ZATO Vidyaevo was approved in 2002 and had the following description: cross-sewn. In the upper blue field is the northern hemisphere of the earth, above it is a four-pointed star, at the edges of which there is aurora borealis. In the lower red field there is a silhouette of a dolphin and two naval daggers in a scabbard. Symbolism: A four-pointed star and aurora borealis indicate the location of the Closed Joint-Stock Company Vidyaevo-Far North, under the North Star. The northern hemisphere can also denote the “zone of responsibility” of submarines deployed here. Dolphin is a symbol of a nuclear submarine based in Vidyaevo. The naval daggers and the red field denote the state (sovereign) meaning: “the military power of Russia” - and its main purpose is the naval base.
Later, the coat of arms of Vidyaevo was finalized by the Union of Heraldists of Russia. The revised version was approved on February 25, 2004, the coat of arms was entered in the State Heraldry Register under No. 1586.
