Emblem Description
In the azure field, the seal's head is turned directly with black eyes, nose and mustache, emerging from the azure wormwood in the middle of the silver tip and accompanied by 3 snowflakes of the same metal (1 and 2).
Justification of Symbols
The central figure of the coat of arms of the city of Snezhnogorsk - the seal, allegorically symbolizes the city-forming enterprise - the shipyard "Nerpa" , with the construction and increase of production capacities of which the socio-economic development of the city of Snezhnogorsk is inextricably linked.
The azure part of the coat of arms and the silver extremity with azure wormwood allegorically show the geographical location of Snezhnogorsk on the shore of the Kola Bay in the ice-free Kut Bay.
Azure - the color of a clear sky and sea, represents height and depth, constancy and devotion, as well as the beauty of nature, symbolizes impeccability, elevated aspirations, virtues.
Snowflakes allegorically speak of the name of the city, making the coat of arms “half-vowed”, which in heraldry is considered one of the classic ways of creating a coat of arms.
Silver allegorically speaks of the boundless northern expanses of the peninsula and symbolizes purity, faith, simplicity, perfection, wisdom, nobility, peace and mutual cooperation.

Coat of Arms History
Until January 4, 1994 Snezhnogorsk was called the city of Vyuzhny (in open correspondence - Murmansk-60). On December 24, 1992, by the decision of the 8th session of the 21st convocation of the Council of People’s Deputies of the city of Murmansk-60, the coat of arms of the city of Vyuzhny was approved by the draft of Yuri Vladimirovich Rubtsov .
The approved full coat of arms of the city of Vyuzhny had the following description: “The coat of arms is a blue shield with gold bordering. At the base of the shield is silver ice, from the ice hole of which the head of a seal of natural color emerges. Above the seal there are three silver snowflakes, the average is higher than the side ones. The shield is crowned with a red city crown with three prongs. Behind the shield are two crossed golden anchors connected by the Alexander ribbon. In the left (according to heraldic rules in the right, as the emblems are described from the shield holder ), the upper corner is the northern golden light. The blue color of the shield field and the silver tip mean that the city is located on the shore of the bay. Snowflakes symbolize the name of the city, and the seal is the name of the main urban manufacturing enterprise. The three-headed red crown, anchors and the Alexander ribbon signify the status of a coastal city. ”
In 1993, when making a souvenir badge depicting the coat of arms of the city of Vyuzhny, the author replaced the blue color with a blue heraldic color and excluded the northern lights from the coat of arms, since it violated the symmetry of the picture. The description of the coat of arms has not changed.
On January 4, 1994, the Government of the Russian Federation removed the classified stamp from the names of closed cities, including settlements of the Kola Peninsula . Instead of the name Vyuzhny, habitual for city residents, Murmansk-60 was renamed Snezhnogorsk.
The Union of Heraldists of Russia finalized the initial coat of arms of Snezhnogorsk. On August 20, 2003, the finalized version of the coat of arms was approved by the decision of the Municipal Council of ZATO Snezhnogorsk and entered into the State Heraldry Register of the Russian Federation under No. 1283.
