About the series
The next television tale of Gloria Perez is based on the “formula” for the creation of previous works of the scriptwriter. In the 2001 telenovela “ Clone ”, the author paid much attention to Muslim culture, in the 1995 telenovela “The tearing heart” of the life of Gypsies, and in the 2005 television series “America” - the lives of Brazilian immigrants in the United States. In the telenovela, “Roads of India,” the central theme was the life of the Indians, with their centuries-old history and customs, intertwined with Brazilian reality. The choice of the Indian theme was undoubtedly connected with the international success of the film Slumdog Millionaire .
In India, the main filming location was the city of Jaipur . In Brazil, the Rio de Janeiro -Lapa area has become the main development site.
The classic "love triangle", complicated by a national motive, family traditions, failed relationships, became the main motive of the series. Inter-caste differences (Opash and Shankar), mental disorders (Tarso and Yvoni), betrayal (Norminha) became other important topics of the story.
In Brazil, the creators of the series were criticized for frivolously displaying Indian reality (for example, as dancing with the whole family for any reason), more appropriate to India in the early twentieth century. [2] . But it should be understood that this is not a documentary, but an entertaining television series, which was noted by the American Television Academy in November 2009 in the form of the international Emmy Award in the category "Best Series".
In Russia, the show was shown on the Domashny television channel [3] from February 15 to September 28, 2010 on weekdays at 18:30 on the evening.
Story
The main action of the series begins on the banks of the sacred river Ganges , where the orphaned boy Bahuan ("untouchable") becomes the object of attack by Opasha. Shankar decides to adopt Bahuan. Time passes. Maya, a young, beautiful Indian woman, meets mature Bahuana in the temple and falls in love with him. Soon, life circumstances separate the couple. Bahuan leaves to work in Brazil. Maya, being pregnant from him, is forced to marry Raja by order of her parents. Raj, the son of the noble businessman Opasha, left his former bride, Dudu, in Brazil for the sake of this marriage.
Senor Cadore, a white-haired man, is the head of the Cadore family and the founder of the family business. He has two adult sons - Ramir and Raul, to whom he gave the reins of government to his empire. Ramiru is married to Melissa, they have two children - Tarso and Inesh. Tarso becomes a headache for parents through their own fault after he has signs of schizophrenia . At the insistence of his grandfather, Tarso was placed in the clinic of his old friend - Dr. Castagno. Ramiru's younger brother, Raul, is married to Silvia. Their marriage threatens the “girlfriend” of Silvia - the psychopath Yvoni, who, seducing Raul, persuades him to flee Brazil. Having staged his death, Raul and Ivoni leave for Dubai , where he is going to live on the money stolen from the company. Soon, Yvoni abandons Raul, leaving him in poverty.

Additional Information
- For actress Mary Manzan, the role of the widow of Ashima was the last: on November 13, 2009, she died, becoming a victim of a long struggle with a serious illness - cancer.
- Actor Paulo José played in the series the role of the prophet Zhentilez (from the port. “Generosity”, “kindness” ) - a real person (Jose Datrino), a rich man who left the material world for the sake of proclaiming his “prophecies” on the viaduct in Rio de Janeiro .
- Leticia Sabatela performed her first "negative" role on television. For playing the role of Ivoni, she received positive reviews from critics, bonuses and undermined her health: during the filming, she was hospitalized with a diagnosis of arrhythmia [4] .
- By the will of the viewers, the main romantic couple (Bahuan and Maya) broke up. Bahuana's “indecisive behavior” and the lack of “chemistry” with Juliana Paes almost transformed the character of Marcio Garcia from the main positive to one of the negative [5] . A similar situation happened with the main characters of the previous television series Gloria Perez - " America ".
- Before the end of the series in Brazil, viewers were asked to express their options for the fate of the most important characters [6] .
