Club career

Kyoun is a graduate of the Arsenal Academy . It was there that he became friends with his one-year-old Tony Adams , who also studied at the Gunners Academy.

He made his professional debut while staying on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion . There he showed himself well and, returning to Arsenal, began to regularly appear in the first team, playing in the 1985/86 season in 22 championship matches. But in the second half of the season, he again went to rent. In the summer of 1986, the new coach George Graham decided that the level of Kioun did not match the club’s ambitions, and sold the defender to Aston Villa for £ 200,000.

Aston Villa was going through hard times at the time. Although only 4 years ago, the club won a victory in the European Cup , in the 1985/86 season, Villa almost crashed into the second division. Coaching leapfrog did not have a positive effect on the stability of the team, and in the 1986/87 season, she, taking the last place in the championship, moved into the second division. However, there “Aston Villa” was delayed for only a year. The following season, she took second place and returned to the first division. Not the last role in this was played by Kyoun, who became a solid player of the base and missed only 2 championship matches. After spending another season in the Birmingham team, Keown moved to Everton for 750 thousand pounds.

Start at Everton was very successful. The club spent the first half of the season quite powerfully, and at the end of the fall he headed the standings. However, the decline in the form led to the fact that in the end "toffee" took only sixth place. Here, Kyoun also became a solid player of the base, but Everton at that time did not claim to high achievements.

In the middle of the 1992/93 season, Keownon returned to his native club for £ 2m. Graham was looking for a player who can complement his powerful defensive line, and the choice fell on Martin. Qyoun was played in cups, so he could not make a contribution to the historical double "1993" (Arsenal won England Cup and League Cup for the first time in the history of England). However, he was able to make a worthy competition to Bould . The defense of Arsenal of those times was one of the best in England in the 90s. Kyoun made a powerful duet with his childhood friend Adams, both in the club and in the national team. In the 1995/96 season, in the absence of Adams, he put on the captain's armband.

With the arrival at Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, Kioun finally won his first trophies. Although in the 1997/98 season, the 31-year-old defender came out only in 18 Premier League matches , he became the champion of England and won the FA Cup. Keeoun remained an important player on the team and regularly quit the base until the 2002/03 season. During this time, he twice became the champion of England and won the FA Cup three times. In the last season for himself, together with Arsenal, he went out in exactly ten championship matches, which allowed him to become the champion of England for the third time. The most memorable match of the season for him was a duel with Manchester United , which took place on September 20, 2003. The game was marked by a large number of clashes, the captain of the Gunners, Patrick Vieira, was sent off for two yellow cards. At the last minutes of the match, a penalty was awarded to Arsenal for the fact that Forlan fell in the fight against Kioun. Perform a penalty took Van Nistelroy, who provoked Vieira before he received a second yellow card. However, the ore hit struck the crossbar. After the final whistle, Keone, not holding back emotions, began to jump around Nistelroi, barely refraining from hanging the cuffs to the Dutchman. These shots were often used to demonstrate all the passions that prevailed at that time in fights between Arsenal and Manchester United.

Having finished the season, Kioun left Arsenal as a free agent. According to his confession, he made the final decision when he saw that the mother of a new player of the Fabregas team is about the same age as he himself [1] . Having played in England one more season, Keownon ended his playing career.

Career in the national team

Kyoun started in junior teams for players under 16 and 18 years old. In 1992, he debuted for the national team in a match against France . At the 1992 European Championships, he replaced the injured Mark Wright and played in all three matches with his team in this tournament.

However, the new England coach Venables ignored Kioun, so until 1997, Martin did not receive a call to the national team. The situation changed with the arrival of Hoddle . He took Kioun to the 1998 World Cup , but Martin didn’t enter the field in any match.

Under Keegan, Qyone became a player in the national team, one day he even led the team in captain status. But over time, age began to make its own adjustments. Kyoun went to the 2002 World Cup , but did not play a single match there. In total for the national team he went 43 times, scored 2 goals.
