MTL Instruments Group plc is a division of the international company Cooper Industries with headquarters in Luton ( UK ). The company manufactures electronic measuring equipment and protective equipment for telecommunication systems and process control systems , including power supplies, secure connection interfaces and surge protection. The company employs about 800 employees worldwide, and annual revenues exceed £ 90 million (in 2006). Production facilities of MTL Instruments are located in Neyrsboro ( Great Britain ), Chennai ( India ), Melbourne ( Florida , USA ), Bochum ( Germany ) and Brisbane ( Australia ). [one]
History
MTL Instruments was founded as a private company in 1971 . In 2005, she acquired the company GeCma Components , which manufactured computer terminals for use in hazardous areas. In 2007 MTL bought 3 companies: ELPRO Technologies , specializing in industrial wireless equipment and radio telemetry; RTK Instruments , manufacturing signaling equipment for process control systems; and Ocean Technical Systems , a remote toolkit for offshore drilling vessels, tankers, and pipelines . In 2008, MTL Instruments itself was purchased by Cooper Industries from Houston ( Texas , USA ) to merge with the already existing Crouse-Hinds division. [2]
