Egor Ivanovich Abrosimov (? —1810) - Russian captain, astronomer, teacher, explorer of the White and Baltic Seas.

Biography
The exact place and date of birth is unknown.
In 1774 he entered the Naval Cadet Corps . From 1788 to 1803 he taught practical astronomy in it, combining teaching with marine research.
In 1799 - 1802 participated in an expedition to the White Sea under the leadership of Lieutenant General L. I. Golenishchev-Kutuzov to determine latitudes and longitudes. In 1802 - 1806 was at the inventory of the shores of the Baltic Sea under the direction of Rear Admiral G. A. Sarychev . A generalization of Abrosimov’s experience was the publication, in 1806, of his “Composition showing the theory and practice of finding longitude at sea or on land.”
In 1807 it was for astronomical observations in Kronstadt ; in 1808, in the rank of 8th grade and with the title of astronomer, he corrected the position of inspector at the Baltic Navigation School . In 1809, for his efforts to determine the astronomical position of the coastal points of the Gulf of Finland, he received the Order of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree. The Academy of Sciences, in the certificate issued to Abrosimov, regarding his examined astronomical observations, responded that she sees in Abrosimov "not only a skilled, but also a zealous observer ."
He died in 1810 .
In 1833 P.K. Pakhtusov named in his honor the gulf, cape and river discovered by him on the southeast coast of the southern island of Novaya Zemlya south of Krotov Bay.
