Content

Title

The book is called by analogy with the Old Norse tales (for example, Grimnismål - " Grimnir's Speech ").

Writing and Publishing a Book

The book was written by Varg Vikernes in late 1994 , when he was in prison, and was a collection of disparate articles. According to the author, the prison authorities confiscated the manuscript of the book, and for several years he was not even allowed to correct it. In the end, Vikernes decided to publish it as is. Varg Speech was written specifically for the Norwegians , as a defense against media coverage . According to Vikernes, this is “not quite the book to start with,” although “it has a few practical points” [1] .

The original book is written in Norwegian ( Bokmål ), contains 83 articles and was printed in Italy in 1997.

Translations

English translation

At least two English translations are known. According to Vikernes, one of them “was so terrible that I could not even read it in its entirety” [1] . At the same time, the English translation of the book was never published, although it is available on the Internet [2] [3] .

German Translation

The translation of the book into German is available on the Internet [4] , but nothing is known about its publication.

Italian Translation

The translation of the book into Italian (under the name Così parlò Varg , literally “So Varg spoke”) is available on the Internet [5] , but nothing is known about its publication.

Swedish translation

The Swedish translation is known to exist, but it, like the English version, has never been published.

Translation into Russian

The translation of the book into Russian was published in 2002 by Ragnarok LLC, with the author's introduction to the Russian edition. The book was released in paperback and contained 82 articles. The circulation of the book was 2000 copies.

The second edition of the book was published by the White Traditions Society in 2007 in Tambov in a hardcover edition of 1,000 copies. In this edition, the translation was edited, the structure and content of the book was changed taking into account the wishes of the author, as well as an appendix was added - Vikernes article “Hunting the Count”. The book in this edition includes 75 articles. Compared with the first edition, the article “The Ship” has been added, but the second edition does not contain the articles “Red, White, Blue,” “North Above All,” “Self-Defense,” “Falsification of History,” “Army Angel,” “Old Speech” , "The Origin of the Name," "Sign of the Beast."

The translation option available on the Internet , although it contains 82 articles, like the first edition, is at the same time somewhat different from the printed version.

In 2007, the White Traditions Society announced the release of pirated copies of the books “Speech Varga” and “Speech Varga II” by Vladimir Popov, known as the “Supreme Ruler of the Russian Republic” [6] .

The third edition of the book was released in 2011 in Tambov in a paperback.

Other translations

In abridged version, the book was translated into Croatian [7] and Serbian (like Reči Varga ) [8] . Both versions included 52 articles from the original book and several later Vikernes articles.

Contents

The Varga Speech is a collection of loosely coupled articles, a kind of collection of Vikernes opinions on a number of topics. He writes about Scandinavian mythology , the history of Norway , the problems of the modern European consumer society , foreign immigration to Europe and so on. Vikernes mercilessly criticizes Christianity ("Judeo-Christian faith is an external sign of spiritual inferiority when it proclaims itself to be non-Jews," "Christianity is racism towards our race, which supports life in our race brothers, that they serve Jews and were slaves for them ”) and modern materialism , on which he blames all the problems of modern society. Satanism and the black metal music scene are also criticized, and a musical tour against racism is condemned. As the only alternative to both Christianity and materialism, the author suggests returning to the pagan faith of the ancestors in his interpretation of this.

In the book, Vikernes calls himself a nationalist , but refuses to call himself right , leaning more toward the image of a revolutionary .

The book contains anti-Masonic ("The most extreme traitors to the race are in the Masonic orders. Masons allow themselves to be killed in order to later be born as" artificial Jews "") and anti-Semitic statements, denial of the Holocaust .

Vikernes claims that it was the Germans who allegedly founded the ancient cultures: Iranians, North Indians, Romans, and ancient Greeks were “white Aryans, ” and advocated racial hygiene .
