Biography
He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Lausanne , then studied at the Academy in Florence ( 1939 - 1943 ), where he met Morandi , whom he later called his teacher. Returning to Switzerland, he settled in Weira ( Valais canton ), where he lived until his death. Since 1960, he regularly visited his friend Philip Jacot in Grignan .
Creativity
The author of landscapes and still lifes. He preferred watercolor, gave a lot of energy to graphics. He illustrated editions of Theocritus , Long , Virgil , Petrarch , M. Sev , Hölderlin , Rilke , T. Mann , Ungaretti , I. Silone , Alain-Fournier , G. Ru , J. Grac , Andre du Boucher , E.-A. Chrysinel , M. Chappase , C. Biy , F. Jacquote and others.
Recognition
An essay by Yves Bonfois , Philippe Jacot, was dedicated to the artist's work. He is a laureate of the canton of Valais ( 1996 ).
