Biography
Medina (Andrea Fuentalba Valbak) was born on November 30, 1982 in Aarhus to a Danish and Chilean family. Medina half Danish, half Chilean. Her mother is from Copenhagen , and her father is from Santiago . She has a brother, he lives in Copenhagen . There is a grandmother, lives in Copenhagen . The songs of Medina can be attributed to the genre of pop .
Music
She released her first single in Denmark called “FLA” (“Skin”). The next single was the song “Et øjeblik” (“One Moment”) in 2007, after which he released an album titled “Tæt på”.
In her homeland in Denmark, she became famous after the release of the hit “Kun for mig” (“Just for Me”), which became the first single from her second album “Velkommen til Medina”. The single became a hit during 2008/2009, was seven weeks on top of the Danish dance chart, was one of the most popular hits on Danish radio. "Kun for mig" was the best-selling 2009 single in Denmark. He spent six weeks in the first place in the Danish Singles Chart, eventually gaining triple platinum status. The second single from the same album, "Velkommen til Medina", also became the first one and stayed on top for five weeks, reached platinum status. The third (“Ensom”) and the fourth (“Vi to”) became the second in the Danish charts and also became platinum.
In 2009, two joint singles of Medina also reached the top of the Danish charts. First, it is “100 dage” from Medina and Thomas Helmig and secondly - “Mest ondt” from Medina and Burhan Ji.
In September 2009, Medina released the English version of "Kun for mig", called “You & I” in the UK, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This version reached number 39 on the UK Singles chart and entered the top 10 in the German Singles Chart.
In July 2010, the international album “Welcome to Medina” was released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, which reached number 9, number 45 and number 24, respectively. In addition to seven new songs, the album also includes English versions of four singles, including “Lonely” (English version of “Ensom”), which was released as the second single from the album.
Achievements
Medina became the best Danish performer of 2009, 2011 and 2012 at the MTV Europe Music Awards, the best Danish singer at the Zulu Awards, and also won the Best Danish Performer and Best Danish Album at DeeJay Awards 2010 nomination
