Lee Gyu Hyuk

Lee Gyu Hyuk ( cor. 이규혁 ; March 16, 1978 , Seoul ) is a South Korean speed skater who specializes in sprinting. Four- time world champion in sprint all-around , 2011 world champion at a distance of 500 meters, two-time silver and one-time bronze medalist at world championships at a distance of 500 and 1000 meters, respectively. Four-time champion of the Asian Games (twice won the race at 1000 and 1500 meters). Originally from a skating family: father - Lee Ik Hwan (participant in the 1968 Olympics), younger brother - Lee Kyo Hyun (participant in the 1998 and 2002 Olympics).

Career

At 13, he made his debut at the 1992 Junior World Championships in Warsaw , where he showed the final 21st result. At the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer , in his debut season at the adult level , 15-year-old Lee was 36th at five hundred and 32nd at a distance twice as long .
